The course also distinguishes the difference between differentiating for students who need some extra challenge and differentiating for gifted and talented students. By offering multiple strategies to help gifted and talented learners flourish, this course helps ensure that all students’ needs are being met in the classroom. This is an online course. Course Learning Objectives
Students will be able to:
- Students will learn the difference between differentiating for the average learner who needs extra challenge and differentiating for gifted and talented learners.
- Students will be able to apply strategies to differentiate for their gifted and talented learners in their classroom to make sure their learning needs are being met.
- Students will develop skills to reflect on & improve their own teaching practices.

- Analyzing how gifted and talented students in your school, and especially in your classroom, are identified and serviced.
- Meeting the needs of your gifted and talented learners by becoming aware of and understanding their learning plans.
- Applying multiple differentiation strategies and methods within lessons to meet the needs of gifted and talented students in the classroom.
- Distinguishing between learners who require extra challenges in their learning vs students who are identified as gifted and talented and how differentiation is different for gifted learners.
- Going beyond grade-level standards to differentiate content, process and product for gifted learners.
- Increasing complexity and rigor for gifted learners.
- Developing and asking appropriately leveled questions to gifted and talented learners.
- Understanding why gifted students need differentiation and how techniques for gifted learners benefit all learners in the classroom.
