New Jersey's Standard Certificate is permanent — it does not expire or require formal renewal. However, teachers must complete 20 hours of professional development (PD) each school year as a condition of continued employment. PD must align with your individualized Professional Development Plan (PDP), developed in consultation with your supervisor. Credits for Teachers graduate-level courses satisfy New Jersey's annual PD requirement — each semester credit equals 15 PD hours, so just 2 credits per year covers your 20-hour annual requirement.
