The Master's Degree Is the Biggest Salary Lever Available to Teachers

Without a Master's degree, most teachers hit an earnings ceiling after 11–12 years — earning the same flat salary for the rest of their career. The M.Ed. unlocks every higher salary lane above it.

Based on our research across real district salary schedules, a teacher who reaches MA+30 by Year 3 can earn $419,027 more over a 25-year career. One who reaches MA+90 by Year 5 can earn $615,993 more.

The "Double Dip" Strategy

Get a Salary Raise Before You Finish Your Degree

Here's something most teachers don't know: you don't have to wait until you finish your Master's to get a salary bump. After completing your first 4–5 courses with Credits for Teachers, you may already have enough credits for your district's first lane change — meaning you can earn a salary increase while still working toward your degree.

Those same credits count toward both your lane change and your Master's. You're essentially getting paid twice for the same work.
